We’re meeting up with the nicest Armenian family who are preparing for us a huge Armenian feast - a barbecue on the picturesque side of the lake. So it was a couple of hours drive from Tbilisi, and it’s a totally different setting in Samtskhe-Javakheti. The mountains are gorgeous and green and the lifestyle is more relaxed with plenty of space. The specific village we visited was called Gamdzani and it’s mainly an Armenian village. It’s truly a one of a kind mountain lodge where you can stay and eat family cooked Armenian food in Georgia. But instead of eating at the restaurant, they took the bbq and all the ingredients to the lake where they set up a huge lakeside Armenian bbq. There was over 13 types of kebabs and so many other side dishes as well, including dolma! It was a meal and a setting in nature that I’ll never forget.
