In this episode of Wisconsin Foodie, Host Luke Zahm travels to Oak Creek to visit the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin. 10 years ago a gunman opened fire killing seven members of the Sikh temple, including president Satwant Singh Kaleka while they were preparing a free community meal called Langar. Luke meets Pardeep Kaleka, Satwant’s son and tours the temple, getting an opportunity to learn more about the Sihk community and their cultural connection to food. Luke finds his way to the kitchen to help make 2000 samosas for the upcoming ten year anniversary of the tragedy and eventually sits down to enjoy the Langar experience with the Kaleka family.
